What is a statement of capital?
A statement of capital is a summary of a company’s issued share capital at a point in time. It sets out, for each class of share: the number in issue, the nominal (face) value per share, the aggregate nominal value, and the amounts paid up and unpaid.
When it is needed
You produce a statement of capital at incorporation, whenever you allot shares (with form SH01), on a confirmation statement, and when you change your capital (for example a reduction, sub-division or consolidation).
Note that nominal value is not market value — it is simply the fixed face value fixed in the company’s constitution (often £1 or £0.01 per share). Compaxit builds the statement of capital automatically from your share classes and holdings.
